Mannequins of Silence, Olivier Saillard
Performance
In shop windows, on the pedestals of fashion exhibitions, mannequins made of wood or cardboard, plastic or metal try to substitute for the body and movements they halt, frozen in their expressions. Endowed with the most embodied or, conversely, the most neutral appearances, playing with absence and presence with complementary arguments, Tilda Swinton initiates a dialogue of silence with the commercial sculptures that have presented clothes on display or in museums.
